The people behind open metaverse and the hit franchise “Ready Player One” announced on Thursday that it would launch the Futureverse, which will merge artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse technologies.
Futureverse co-founders Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald, Ready Player One novellist Ernest Cline, and Dan Farah, film producer for its film adaptation, will launch Readyverse Studios for the project.
With a collection of emerging technologies, Readyverse Studios aims to showcase next-generational filmmaking technologies complete with Web3, metaverse gaming, immersive experiences, and virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR) tools to audiences.
The new platform, called The Readyverse, will connect users and audiences to the impressive digital experiences. Additionally, in a groundbreaking partnership with Warner Bros Discovery, Futureverse will migrate to the real-world metaverse in the first-ever immersive franchise campaign, with others set to join the company in due course.
With its multiple intellectual properties (IP) and interoperable open metaverse technologies, Readyverse Studios aims to bring the successful venture to the virtual world while also backing open metaverse technologies. Doing so will promote Web3 concepts linked to direct digital ownership, identities, and security.
Also, Futureverse will boost adoption of decentralised metaverse technologies, infrastructure, security protocols, and other concepts around the open metaverse that are crucial to Web3 adoption.
Furthermore, the Web3 firm has developed its open-source technology stack over the last five years, leading to the foundational infrastructure for Readyverse Studios.
According to Citi, the Metaverse is expencted to reach $13 trillion USD by 2030. This will demand accessible open-source technologies where clients can create their own metaverse experiences.

Editor’s Analysis on the Future Open Metaverse
Hi everyone! Just wanted to throw my two pence in. As the latest startup to enter the Web3 market, this is great news for the open metaverse.
To date, many companies in the Web3 sector have made their mark on the global extended reality (XR) market, leading to real use cases and expansive applications of the emerging technology.
Companies like Ready Player One, Lamina1, Croquet, Crucible, the Gatherverse, and even Meta Platforms, to name a few, have explored the concept of the open metaverse with their enterprise solutions.
One should note that Neal Stephenson—author and creator of the groundbreaking novel Snow Crash—co-founded Lamina1, a Web3 and blockchain firm dedicated to supporting XR use cases.
The company later partnered with Crucible for its Pathfinder Programme, which facilitates the future of the open metaverse by training developers and professionals in the blockchain and other emerging technologies.
This is leading to a proper transition from the Web2 internet to the decentralised Web3 metaverse and opening dialogue on the central motivations for moving the Metaverse in this direction.
Open-source standards and technologies have become immeasurably critical to some advocates of Web3, as it provides greater transparency, flexibility, and adaptability for creatives across the sector.
Some argue that, without full access to open source standards, many creatives will be at the mercy of proprietary systems that can act as gatekeepers to technological accessibility.
This can take place when users want to port their digital assets from one platform to another, such as from Roblox to the Sandbox, or it could cause issues when seeking to remove data from one platform entirely to protect digital identity assets and data integrity.
Cominted Labs, another Web3 and metaverse platform, has detailed in its newsletter The Spatial Shift why the decentralised technology is key to metaverse cohesion and interoperability.
It may be vital to the Futureverse and other Web3 companies to continue the work of previous entitites so that a fully decentralised Web3 market can flourish unhindered by the restrictions of proprietary technologies.
Whilst still promoting interoperability with proprietary platforms, many Web3 firms realise the value in developing a mature Web3 ecosystem to avoid blocks in the progress of the Metaverse itself as well as accessing full transparency on company data, assets, and creative control.
