Augmented reality (AR) hardware and software solutions’ firm Vuzix has launched its M400 Xtreme smart glasses, it announced on Monday.
According to the Rochester, NY-based company, the latest edition significantly enhances its celebrated M400-series device.
Many of the upgrades include a new, IP67-rated Xtreme Weather power bank with longer battery life capable of withstanding water, dust, and adverse temperatures, making it suitable for difficult environments.
Ergonomics also received a boost with the Xtreme M400’s headband, allowing users to operate the device all day and in inclement environments for remote field work, cold storage facilities, and others.
Vuzix has also enhanced its product’s functionality with a Collaboration Package, providing buyers with access to Vuzix Video Conferencing for Zoom and many other widely-used communications apps.
According to Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive, Vuzix, his company had been “continually making improvements to this product” with numerous upgrades
Many of these have incorporated brighter displays, increased screen life and durability, external voice interference reductions, operating system upgrades, multilingual speech recognition and app support, among others, Travers added.
He continued,
“The enhancements implemented were often in direct response to the operational requests and general product feedback we have received from the thousands of customers that have been actively using our smart glasses. Upgrading to Android 13 support, for example, is another key requirement on our strategy roadmap for the year, based on customer feedback. We’re confident that our new Collaboration Package and the release of the M400 Xtreme will meet the rising need to stay connected with peer teams regardless of location or environmental factors.”
The news comes after the spatial computing company debuted several products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, including demos of its Ultralite S smart glasses, winning it an Innovation Award at the event.
Additional products showcased at the event include its M-Series of AR devices such as the M400, the Vuzix Shield, and other artificial intelligence (AI) enhanced wearables.
